This is my Great Aunt, Signa Mathison. She
turned 100 years old on September 22, 2006. While she now lives in
Kalispell, Montana in an assisted living facility so that she can be
near her son. For many, many years she was a faithful and active
member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Missoula, Montana.
Signa came to America along with her 8
siblings in 1912 when she was 6 years old. She and her husband,
Einar, were married for over 50 years. Both she and Einar were very
active at St. Paul's as well as the Sons of Norway Lodge. For as
long as anyone can remember, she has kept a daily diary. You could
never leave her house without a cup of coffee and something to
eat--usually a sweet treat! One of her favorite expressions is "You
Bet" said with just that touch of a Norwegian accent. When asked why
she thought she had lived so long she looked heavenward and said,
"Well it's really not up to me."
How blessed we all are to have had her in our life.
