It is NOT Okay

It is NOT okay to racialize a virus. It is NOT okay to use xenophobic words or phrases. It is NOT okay to act violently. It is NOT okay to stay silent when eight people, six of them Asian American women, are murdered. Murdered while at work. It is NOT okay.

Here we stand against these acts of hate. The violent actions we witnessed on Tuesday were not the first, and they won't be the last unless we stand up. We must begin with letting our family members, friends, neighbors, and even strangers know IT IS NOT OK to make derogatory comments, laugh at a racist meme, make a "virus joke", or participate in the many microaggressions against Asian Americans. Speak up when casual racism occurs. Let us not become desensitized and removed from the hate that is occurring against Asian Americans every day.
