Are you OK with it? This last week-end, ten humans lost their lives in Buffalo, New York because of another mass shooting. Did you catch that? ANOTHER mass shooting. It seems it’s already missing from the front pages and lead stories. Is that because we are OK with it?
WE ARE NOT OK WITH IT. We see divisions that are so deep that we can’t even talk about our differences. We protest and counter protest. We unfriend family. We change churches. We unsubscribe. We ignore the log in our own eye.
IT IS NOT OK. And, unless we talk about, begin to understand, and take action toward change it will continue.
That is why we are re-launching this shirt that we hope speaks to the divisiveness and engages conversations that might lead to change. In April of 1521, Martin Luther stood before the emperor at the Diet of Worms to defend his beliefs. This is where he is said to have famously proclaimed, “Here I stand, I can do no other. God help me. Amen.” He spoke truth to power and did not back down for the fear of being cast out or excommunicated.
Join us in standing for what we believe in just as Martin Luther did all those years ago. As a predominately white denomination, we need white leaders to take a stand. We need to ACT NOW, STAND NOW, SPEAK NOW, LISTEN NOW.
We need to say “It is not ok.” because IT IS NOT OK.
