Here We Stand Against Hate
Not in my town... Recently anti-Islamic hateful graffiti was spray painted on the walls and sidewalks of the Muslim Mosque here in Moorhead, Minnesota. As pictures and stories were told on social media, shockwaves echoed through our town. People of many faith backgrounds gathered to show support, help clean up, and say this is not okay. I was heartened by the outpouring of compassion and action from the hundreds of volunteers, but I was bothered by what I heard over and over again - “I can’t believe this happened in our town.” It is important that we stop living in denial...
Pride Month
June is PRIDE MONTH, but let’s not forget that this celebration is all year long! A portion of all pride proceeds will be donated to a local organization that has greatly impacted our community, the Fargo-Moorhead Pride Collective and Community Center. The center’s mission is to create a sense of community and promote education and social activities aimed at furthering the social and physical well-being and development of the LGBTQIA+ community in the Red River Valley. May is Mental Health Awareness Month! The semicolon has become a symbol for affirmation and solidarity against suicide, depression, addiction, and other mental health issues.
